Bruce Ismay:
Bruce Ismay is a rich, ignorant first-class man. He uses his position as the White Star Line managing director to influence Captain Smith to go faster with the prospect of an earlier arrival in New York and favorable press attention. After the Titanic strikes the iceberg, he struggles to comprehend that his "unsinkable" ship is doomed. He later sneaks on board a lifeboat to escape.
