Jack Dawson:
Jack Dawson is a penniless Wisconsin artist who has toured various parts of the world, primarily Paris. He wins two tickets onto the RMS Titanic in a poker game and travels as a third-class passenger with his friend Fabrizio. He is attracted to Rose at first sight and meets her when she attempts to throw herself off the stern of the ship. This enables him to mix with the first-class passengers for a night. He falls deeply for Rose and they become close. He is permitted to sketch Rose naked and from there becomes romantically involved with her. When Cal, Rose's fiance, finds out about Jack and Rose, he frames Jack and gets him locked away in the bowels of the ship. When the ship hits the iceberg and starts sinking, Rose comes to find Jack to save him. They manage to go down at the very stern of the ship, where they met. After Titanic has sunk, Jack makes Rose promise to go on and "never let go" so she will survive. He slowly freezes to death in the freezing cold Atlantic ocean with Rose safe by his side.
